Tim's Practice Tips

PRACTICE ON THE RANGE

If it is a while since you have played it is important to work through your shorter length iron clubs to get a rhythm before advancing to the challenge of the distance woods.

For the regular player recall your last round on what shots gave you the most problem and attempt to correct your mistake.

It is important to have a checklist when hitting golf balls. Observe the position of your hands on the club, grip pressure with no tension in your arms and shoulders. Next check the alignment to your target and then the ball position.

UNDERSTANDING PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE GOLF SWING

Looking at a series of sequence photographs of the golf swing in a golf magazine enables you to understand the various positions of the body, arms and legs.

Sequence photographs numbering around 9 are the best to look at as they are like ‘slow motion’ of a video film. The series of photos should start from the address position, takeaway, three quarter backswing, and top of backswing prior to hitting area impact, impact, just after the hit, three quarter follow through and then the completion of the swing.
